My wife has never been interested in photograpy. Then after I purchased my new camera she some what took over my Canon XT. I showed here the basics and now she's becoming hooked. In fact she likes to us my 70-300mm telephoto and tells me it's not quite big enough, "so go out and buy that 500mm you've been looking at." Won't she be surprised when she sees that credit card bill. Maybe I'll hold off a while.
Here's a photo she took while on her moring walk. My comments are it's abit overexposed around the nose. I told her I'd run it through NPN and see what you all thought here.

Program Priority, 1/200sec, F/5.6, EX Comp +1/3, ISO 400, 70-300mm @300mm, HH. Early Morning, Approx 80% of original image.
Thanks for looking and all C&C welcomed.
Large version added.

I think that peeking face is adorable. I agree about the overexposure near the nose but I still really like the image. I wish the eyes had a little more light in them. I would also try to move the face out of the center. How cool that you and your wife can now share this passion.

Clearly you should buy HER that 500, because she needed to be just about that much closer! You might point out to her that exact center composition tends to be less dynamic than off center. Yes, the whites look a little hot, but this contrasty light is a very tough situation to expose and maintain detail. The peeking through the V of the tree makes for a pleasing attitude.

Poor you John, the worst thing I can imagine would be that my wife would be ass addicted to photography as me!!!
No just pulling your leg here John! Your wife sure has an artistic approach to photography, which is the most important starting point. The subject appearing in that tree fork makes for excellent compositional opportunities. With the focal length she was using I think she handled the comp as well as she could. Ideally however, I think a tighter crop would have had more impact.
My conclusion; buy her that beauty of a 500mm lens!
