Mike, I like pose which isolates the head against the more OOF and darker background. I also think it's neat that the tree shows so much woodpecker activity. The larger version looks a little soft to my eye.

Excellent, Mike. The detail looks perfect. You might try increasing the brightness a bit, but not much. :toast:

I like how sharp the eye is, and actually the whole image is remarkable for 1/80th hand held. :toast:

Really nice. There's a lot of interest in the bark and moss and the bird is set off nicely against that background. I usually see these 30 ft high, so you did a good job finding him at eye level. :toast:

Hi Mike,
It's always a thrill for me when I can get one of these in the viewfinder. Looks like this is a favored tree for this guy. Details in the smaller image look OK but not holding up as well in the larger image.
Thanks for posting,
Ronnie G.

Hi Mike,
It's a nice setting and your exposure looks good. The image looks a touch soft to me, probably from handholding at that low shutter speed. You didn't say what camera body you used so I don't know if a higher iso and shutter speed would be possible without bringing in too much more noise. :toast:

Hi Mike, you did really well considering the low light and hand held!
