We found two grizzlys togather just north of Roaring Mountain in Yellowstone. The light was harsh and from the wrong side if the bears, but you take what you are given. I am hopeing you all can give me some tips on saving some of my shots and maybe tips to improve what I have. All saved shots are on my Smugmug site.

Thanks for looking at my picture and for any comments.

As you mentioned, this is tough light. Is it a large crop? It seems like there is less detail than I would expect. However, it is not posted as large as it could so maybe that's it.

If it were mine and you are using Photoshop, I would work with the Shadow/Highlight tool to bring out the shadow detail a bit and reduce the highlights a tad.

The environmental feel of the image is enhanced by the water in the BG. however, I would consider a crop with the bear more to the left in the frame so it is not so centered and looking back toward center.

Just my $0.02.

Jack, I love the habitat setting with that river in the BG. A real shame the light is harsh. Ed also has a good point about the composition.

Thanks for the comments! Here is a crop of the bear with just a little of the habitat.

The lighting was your worst problem but you made pretty good with it. Congrats on the encounter!
