South Island, NEW ZEALAND

From the first day on my New Zealand trip this year. Perhaps not one of the absolutely top-shelf shots in terms of wow factor from the trip but it brings back fond memories of a good start to my 5 week adventure and is one of my favourites.

Canon 5DMkII, 70-200mm 2.8L IS, GND filters.

Kah Kit:
Beautiful soft glow and reflection. You must have a very high shelf, even the middle shelf may be too high for many.

Love the vibrant color and setting, but am undecided about the composition. I can't help but wish there were just a tad more to see along the left...

Nice color and light on the land in the background. The dark shadows on the reflection seem to be throwing me off. Tough one to process

Amazing soft light here KK, very peacefull scene. I would be tempted to crop it just a little from the bottom.

Kah Kit,

Lovely colors and a quiet, peaceful reflection. Your memories of the place certainly play a role in how you feel about the image; which is also why it doesn't mean the same thing to me and thus doesn't have the impact that much of your other work does. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with this one, just not as strong relative to your body of work. Compositionally though the tree/brush along the far shore weigh heavily causing a slight imbalance for me.

The colors, serenity, and the fact that you did not divide your image in half all attracted me to this image. What threw me off is the bulk of puckerbrush on the left. I wish there were more separation from the hills, either through positioning (getting much lower, if you could, or directing the camera more to the right), lightening the shrubbery in post processing, or perhaps just cropping it in from the left and top.

I like the rock in the foreground. It adds a nice element.

Great sense of depth to this image, and love the way the reflection steals more of the sky than we see from the sky itself. Wonderful as usual Kah Kit.
