Shy Guy

Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 1/30 @ f16

The Mercer Arboretum has a very nice collection of tropical plants, one of which is this aptly named Hidden Ginger. Coaxed this one out in the open enough for a shot. All comments welcome. >=))>

We have those here, but they are usually so buried in the leaves it is impossible to get a decent exposure. A nice shot of this "shy guy", Bill.I especially like the hint of pink and the translucence of the white petals.

I love this photo BIll. I always am drawn to photographs that give the effect that I'm peeking in on the subject. Nature photos of course.

Looks like you get my 3,000th comment Bill. Love the flower enveloped in its framing leaves. The leaves also create a directional from lower-left to upper-right that I find appealing.

Bill, the slight blush on the "shy guy" supports the title! You are good. Just how did you coax him out? Doesn't matter. Sweet capture! :toast:

Wonderful soft light and sublte color. I like the peek-a-boo look to the comp too. Excellent work!

Except for the name, there is nothing hidden about this ginger. You have really gotten excellent exposure even under those leaves. I really like this.

We have lots of ginger plants in the garden near my work. The whites tend to go grey/brown very quickly in the tropical heat and I can never get one in pristine condition. This one looks healthy and beautifully captured.

Bill, That ginger is stunning. I wish the foreground leaves were smaller or just not there.

I love the folds and edges of leaves Bill. The gap in the front leaf/leaves works really well with the shot I think.

Love the soft colouring in this, Bill, and the sweep of the leaves - it actually feels like it has just opened up for the camera ! Nice to see this plant.
