During one of our mini expeditions north to Alaska, my wife and I boondocked overnight along the James Dalton Highway near the Galbraith Lake Airport - Galbraith Lake, AK. This photo was taken right before a passing snow storm, late July 2008. Image title is play on the TV series, Ice Road Truckers - which touted this as the most dangerous 414 mile stretch of road in North America. Of the very few other vehicles we encountered on this highway (less than a dozen vehicles per day over a five day period) most everyone including the truck traffic was very courteous. The road itself was very abusive - but the already spectacular scenery was made even more so due to wave upon wave of tumultuous weather.

Camera: Canon EOS-1D MKII
Lens: 24-70 F2.8L @ 24mm
Exposure: 1/320 @ F8, ISO 200

Cheers,

When you get off the van, make sure you don't go very far; you'd never find it again! Great contrast between the rugged fg and the mountains in the bg.
