Summer Grasses

I went out early this morning with my large format camera with the hope of capturing some summer grasses and flowers. As it turned out, there was way too much wind. I did shoot a couple of large format images, but I mostly concentrated on digital.

I wanted some of this image to be sharp so I cranked the D300 up to ISO 400 for this image. I like how it turned out with the combination of blur and sharp areas.

I like the layers of tones here, from dark - to light - to medium. I also like the soft light on the background trees, which helps add depth to the image.

Yes, it is a nice mix of blur and sharp. And lovely color. I also agree with David's comment on the layers. Nicely done, Dan!

I really like the soft color and the grass almost looks like feathers. Very nice

Beautiful textures Dan. The background, especially the top center, seems to have a bit of a purple tint which seems a bit odd, but I really like the image.

Dan,

I love the grasses here and what I really find intriguing here is the "peek-a-boo" kind of look with the flowers, buried within the grasses. It really reminds me of an image where a lion or some predator is hiding and being camouflaged by their surroundings. Very cool. And with that, the background for me only serves as a good framing element. I too notice the purple at the top and wonder if it's background or actually a flowering tree of some kind? Very minor.

But I just love the hidden flower in the middle of the grasses. Well seen!

That's some awfully pretty grass, Dan. The purples make if feel almost flower-like.

A very interesting perspective on this one, Dan. The small wisp of magenta or red to the grass tops offsets some of the coolness on display from the grass stalks.

I like how it turned out too Dan. Beautiful complementary color in the grass and flowers. No suggestions.

The angle & the dark background is what makes this image. Nice shot.
