Fields of Gold

I was in Napa Valley for the weekend. After sunrise, I found this nice little scene of wildflowers. I tried shooting with my back to the sun, and then turned around and saw how great the flowers looked from the other direction. The stems stood out so much more, and with the sun filtering through the petals, the yellow just popped! I was able to stitch four frames together and make a nice pano, I will be printing the pano, but I'll post one of the frames here because you'll be able to see better detail. Saved at jpg 4, larger image provided.

Thanks for any comments.

All the flowers are mesmerizing until I get to the top part where it's a bit blurred. I'd crop that part out.

Really nice shot . . . the compression might hurt the details, but it gives it a bit of an impressionistic look that isn't bad at all. There are some similar fields near my home next door in Yolo County (just east of Napa) and I've had much the same idea in mind for a shot . . . we'll see if I make it while they last.

Excellent combination and color Ben. I like the larger version, maybe alittle crop off the top. good job.

For some reason, the repeated patterns give the image strong abstract qualities. At least, that's what I'm seeing and I really like it. Great job, Ben!

I like it man! It is a bit busy and it has no focal point, but that's the strength of this image. It just offers a mesmerizing density of shapes and color. Good stuff Ben!

Great colors. For me it is a little busy which would be OK if it had a central interest. Nothing wrong with it. Just a matter of taste.

Wall to wall flowers and really nice light. Should make a very nice huge print!

After looking at the larger photo I change my opinion. I like it! And I agree that it should print up nicely but print it big.

I like this. Could see a large print make a very abstract presentation.

Very nice, Ben. The larger version is a must here and still only shows a part of the power of the image.

Ben,

The backlighting worked well for you here. Nice detail. I wish the focus did not drop off so quickly in the BG.

Love it Benjamin! Then it came to me... instead of where's Waldo? It's Where's Didl??

Great lighting here and I think the detail front to back is important and nice job with that. I might shave a sliver off the very top just to remove the softer, far background flowers, what, maybe 25 pixels worth? Anyway, I'll be the pano looks great. Well seen and captured.

Love staring at the detail in the larger image... particularly the bottom two thirds. Maybe a pano with a crop off the top would look good. This needs to be printed big... good stuff!
