Kolob Canyon Moonlight

Taken at 10:30 pm with a 2/3rd full moon on the Kolob Canyon Rd in Zion National Park. A gorgeous night it was! I would have loved to have waited a little longer until the moon got higher in the sky, but my wife was half-asleep in the car & wanting to head back to Springdale.

Canon 5D MII EF 16-35mm @19mm F4 20 seconds ISO 2000 Noise reduction with Nik Define 2.0

I'm sure I'll get a lot of cropping advice on this one  I like the open expanse of the sky, so I did not choose to crop it.

No cropping advice on the sky. For me, maybe a bit off the bottom. I love the wispy clouds.

Wick,

Perfect as-is! I like this much better after you darkened it. Nice work!

Lovely night shot, Wick. Especially the sky is very appealing.

I have a somewhat similar image that I took from this spot last fall (but without that great sky) and I have to admit that I like yours better! I also Iike the expansive sky but I'd consider taking a bit of the top off to better balance the image. Well done.

Excellent, Wick! Wonderful night image. I suggest cropping to about a 4x5 off the bottom and left - I don't think you need quite as much of the closer hillside, and it would take the peak out of the center for a better balance IMO.

I love those wispy clouds. They make the image for me.

Amazing image when you think about it all the technology that makes this possible. It looks good and looks real, in fact, it looks real good. I really like the roughly 2/3 sky, 1/3 land comp.

Excellent exposure. I am not sure if I can give you any cropping advise on this one....it would be a shame to take out such a gorgeous sky.

Wick,

Terrific night sky and capture. I like this as is, but if there was any cropping I would crop the lighter, bottom ridge and really make this image about the sky. the moonlit landscape works as a wonderfully moonlit base to the image. Well done all the way around.
