Nikon D300, Nikon AF-S 300mm, 1/1250, f5.6, ISO 400

A chamois in Louson Valley, Italy.
The chamois are quite shy and not easy to photograph up close. This specimen has suddenly emerged in front of me while I was going up the Valley of Louson, at about 2900 meters.

Nice action shot with a good BG. Looks like you did well considering he just showed up in front of you. Thanks for sharing.

Nice chamois shot Marco, I do find those bright reflecting spots in the bg a bit distracting though.

Hi Marco,

Looks like you had tough lighting to deal with here - but overall I think you did a good job. I like the positioning of the subject in the frame and the downhill slope the subject is on adds a nice diagonal element to the image. I'm in agreement with Guy that those bright highlights in the background detract a little, but not too much you could do about that. Were you using a polarizing filter when you shot this image? If not, you MIGHT have been able to reduce some of those background reflections a little if you used one...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

You did well in capturing the sudden appearance! I like the action of the image with movement & lifted legs, and the accents provided by the blue and yellow flowers. Ideally I would have liked a slightly different head angle to better separate the horns from one another.

Good job of capturing him on the move Marco. I like the movement in the shot. However, the bright BG is a bit of a distraction for me.

Thanks for all the comments. I agree the brillant BG is a little distracting: there were snow patches and rocks shining under the sun. Unfortunatly I was not using the polarizing filter that could reduce the reflections.
