This is the hen to the two chicks I posted last week. As I was set up at the top of my driveway looking up and shooting into the nest across the road, she flew onto a branch to my immediate left and let me know she was watching my every move. I'm planning on posting several of the behavioral shots I've taken of the chicks on the forum shorty.

Thanks for looking.

Nice subject and pose. It looks like it has had a bit too much noise reduction, though.

Great pose, Charles. A very good job of the exposure against that bright bg. Did you do some odd post processing? The plumage looks like one of the art filters might have been applied. :toast:

sweet pose, and a nice job with the exposure, Chuck. I agree that something seems a little off with the bird, especially on the head, there seems to be a lack of fine detail.

Nice timing to catch the open beak. Interesting perch and an unobstructed view. Unusual artifacts though..

Chuck

I love the great pose and the open bill. The image has a painterly feel to it but I find myself missing the fine feather details I would expect to see in this species. I may have selected f6.3 to get a higher shutter speed and that would also have helped to put the background more out of focus.
