Carnival of Color

Have you ever taken an image and then later on discovered other's had similar versions of the same subject matter? Well, that's this shot of the wave. Taken on my first only and visit there about a little over a month ago.

We were lucky enough to get a walk in permit and I learned how vicious the lottery system can be. Long story short, a girl actually got into it with the BLM ranger there was thrown out of the park office - right in front of me! Others who didn't get selected were also there, begging and pleading their case. Needless to say, it was a total debacle.

Of course, the BLM was telling people it was OK to take their low clearance passage cars back on House Rock Valley Road and there was a stretch of sand so deep that I tore up the bottom of my Nissan Murano crossing it. Lots of others were getting stuck only exacerbating the situation.

Another location I never tire of seeing. If nature made taffy, this is where it would be. A wonderful scene Mike.

Sorry to hear about the car. Maybe get a jeep. ;] They are awesome...

A wonderful and simple take of this beautiful icon. I hope the beauty and relative solitude here offered by the lottery system was able to heal any damage to your soul from the lottery arguments  Can you imagine if just everyone could go? It would be a zoo, and the sandstone wouldn't last much more than a week!

Michael, I like the muted tones entering the from the edges. Never stop in the sand it's better to just jump out the window while the car is moving.

Michael,

Wonderful rendition from the wave. I'd love to have this in my files too! Of course the wavy lines work beautifully here and I'm really enjoying the subdued and natural earth tones. A simple, yet very strong and engaging composition. No nits here.

Beautiful flowing lines( I love the taffy reference). Excellent colors too. I love the abstract qualities here as well. I was going to suggest a small crop off the top, but it's really great the way it is.

Beautiful Michael. I love all the color in the foreground swirls. Glad you were able to get into this place and hopefully you didn't cause to much damage to your vehicle.

I haven't seen this composition before but I think it's just wonderful, literally eye candy, complete with the stripes.

Very nice classic comp making the most of the lines and nice lighting helping to increase the color variation! :toast:

I too have wanted to shoot this comp under the right lighting and hope to get my chance soon.
