I've only got a couple more after this. This was taken while standing up. One thing I've learned from the feedback so far is try a lower perspective. Due to my inexperience, I didn't do that. However, I'll keep that in mind the next time an opportunity comes along like this.

Canon 5D2
Canon 70-200mm f/4
Shot from a tripod

A curious looking animal that seems like it's on a mission. A lower angle (if possible) would strengthen this shot.

HI Ron,

I'm in agreement with both you and Luke that a lower perspective here could have helped. A slight and selective bump in exposure in the shaded regions (especially on the side of the head) might help add a little more life to this shot. I look forward to seeing the remaining shots of this guy!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Hi Ron, it is always good to hear that people are learning from the feedback they get; after all that's what NPN is all about!
I agree with the lower angle here, but also realise that the FG rock might have become an obstruction here, something which would have forced you moving to left or right probably. I do like the pose as well as the DOF achieved here. I do not mind the blurred front paw as the head is perfectly sharp.
Another thing about wildlife photography (as compared to landscapes) is that we do not like tripods as they tend to be limiting when it come to composition and positioning because we work with moving subjects. The newer high ISO cameras are a great help in that respect!
