Red Rock Lake

Red Rock Lake is part of the Brainard Lake Recreation Area. I went up there to photograph the beautiful water lilies in bloom. I took a couple of large format images but I won't get those for a week. I also shot some digital. Here's one of them that I liked.

Beautiful Dan. Great colors and detail, and I like how the bright green in the bg pulls me into the scene.

This is really good, Dan. Just love the sky-in-the-water treatment with the real sky cropped.

I really like the sky included as a reflection and the lines in the water. This was one of the places my husband and I love to visit when we come and stay with friends in the area. Thanks for sharing and can't wait to see the others.

Lovely scene Dan. Very peaceful. I'd like to be there right now with my fly rod.
How are the mosquites? Nicely done.

Really enjoying what you captured here. Beautiful color, strong composition and good exposure throughout. I'm not sure I would have guessed this was yours at first glance... maybe your new surrounds are influencing your style of photography a bit. Good stuff!

Gorgeous image Dan. Love the comp using the reflection but also the color palette and the mood you've captured.

I love what you did in the water, especially the tops of the trees reflected. It's a design element that interior decorators use often. Great image Dan.

Beautiful Dan. The trees in the background and their reflection are incredible. Love the hint of color in the reflected sky and how the rocks picked up some of that color. Look forward to seeing the 4x5 work.

Dan,

Oooooh, I really like this! The reflection and the pastels of the sky are just beautiful. And composing this the way you did by eliminating what was above the trees really keeps the eye engaged with what's going on with the lake. I like what Rudy said about how the greens along the shoreline really pull the viewer in to the scene - I agree. This is wonderful and your best of recent postings.

Dan,

This is really nice and I hope you have a similar photo on the 4x5. I think those greens right in the center, with their additional brightness really grab the attention and and move the eyes up into the trees. The wonderful mystery of what is above revealed in the water is fantastic and helps tie the whole image together and keeps the viewer engaged. Well done. My one nit is that it seems to be slightly tilted CW, at least that is what it looks like on the bank but strangely not in the trees.

Dan,
The thumbnail of this marvelous composition caught my eye immediately. The sky and spires of the firs reflected in the water are just what I would concentrate on if I were to gaze at this scene. The floating vegetation and the light on the rocks and shoreline create visual interest that makes me want to keep studying this inviting scene. :toast:
