Prairie Storm 2

It has been a very active week for stormy weather in these parts. I was out a couple of days ago while a particularly nasty weather pattern was passing thru the area and couldn't help stopping for this shot during a break in the rain. The contrast between the bright yellow of the canola and there near black of the thunderheads is really outstanding. I love how the sunlight caugh the right side of the posts as it slipped out from behind the clouds. I could take pictures like this all day and never get tired of it. I am currently working on a panorama shot in a different area that i hope will be good enough to post soon.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

I like the side-lighting on the posts too, making them stand out of the shadows, a subtle but important element in the success of this image. A well crafted composition too. lovely result.

Nice image Mark. I like the lines that the edge of the flowers, fenceline and road adds to the image and the DOF that carries me ito the photograph. Well done. This image has moved me into action. My wife and kids are out of town for the weekend and my plans were to travel to Northern Michigan to enjoy photograph all day. When I woke up here it is rainy and stormy so I decided not to go until I saw your image here. I then realized a stormy sky can add way more to an image than clear and sunny. I better get some breakfast and head out. :toast:
