For some reason this species has been difficult to get this year. I still haven't managed a good singing pose and it's probably too late for that. However, I liked this one.

7D, 500mm f4, + 1.4TC, Black Widow on Gitzo legs, f8, 1/1000, iso 500, Av mode with -2/3 compensation. Taken 7:35pm on July 16th. Subject distance 10.1m. Cropped to 45% of the original and an oof twig removed.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Nice capture, sweet light and good techs, Dennis. Good exposure in the difficult whites and blacks in the crown.

Wonderful light and a very good BG, I'm not crazy about the perch but the lichen does add to it. A real beauty Dennis.

Your song bird always catch my eye Dennis as I do a quick glance through all the thumbnail photos. The sharpness and detail is great as always and very nice lighting on the bird to make it stand out against the BG.

All viewer's of your White Crowned, should go to the "Larger Photo" so they can fully appreciate just how wonderful this capture is. Dennis, I love the comp. his pose and perch and your DOF choice. Not an easy subject to capture and display well, this one has everything to put it over the top, congratulations!

Very nice exposure Dennis and I like the perky, tail up pose. The perch is fine by me and I also like the clean background that has some color gradations.

Setting, pose and light don't get much better than this Dennis! Top notch WC Sparrow photo. Not every bird photo has to be in a singing pose.
