I had fun playing with maps and the photographer' ephemeris to predict the best spot to take this photo. A beautiful PNW night with a moonlit hike off the peak at night.

Classic type of view here. Works great as a pano and would probably sell wee as a fine print. Nice work getting the moon and alpenglow to align so nicely.

You can't go wrong with that peak, alpenglow, the Earth's shadow and the moon. Nice work!

Different light on my favorite mountain. Pano works well and alpenglow is fantastic...... Ditto Eric's comment and beautiful capture.

Very nice image. I'd like to see the moon a bit higher in the sky and further left. Perhaps not easy to achieve, at least the positioning left or right.

Thanks for all the nice comments. There aren't too many full moon/clear day opportunities on the rainy side of Rainier, so it was nice to actually visualize a shot in advance and then have it turn out somewhat as planned.
Rodney, I agree that it would have been a nice shot to have the moon higher in the sky, but the alpenglow was gone and it was too dark to photograph. I'm paying a little more attention to moon cycles, so hopefully I can get a shot later this year where the moon is higher in the sky at dusk.

Jeff, each day the moon rises about 50 minutes later in the day. On the day of the full moon, it will rise after the sun has set. So the best time to get this shot might be 2 or 3 days before the actual full moon.
