Late evening this Hoopoe was against the light so tried making a silhouette image & processed in B/W.

D300, 200-400 1.4x, ISO 800, 1/200, F8 Handheld,full frame.

Thanks for viewing my first avian post in NPN & all the C & C are very much appreciated.

Butch

Very nice silhouette, Butch. Welcome to the NPN Avian forum. I like the little bit of gray you left in the crest and body. It adds just a touch of three-dimensionality to the image. :toast:

Butch, Welcome to NPN and the Avian Gallery.

The major nit I have with the image is the everything is surrounded by a white line and I find that very distracting. It may have come from over-sharpening but I don't know for sure.

Keep posting.

Fun image Butch. I agree with the comment about the halo and that it probably comes during your sharpening process.

Welcome!

Wonderful silhouet shot, the sharpening line has been mentioned, that can so easily be solved. Looking past that minor point, I think it's brilliant!
