Who, Me?

Out shooting what's available. Found this gull at a local park.
Sometimes you have to lay on the ground when photographing birds. Because of this, people will often come up to me thinking that I have fallen and need help. Seriously!

On this day, an older gentleman who was working at the park came up to me and asked if I was alright. With a smile, I said, yes I am. He smiled back and said, That's interesting, I'm pretty much ambidextrous myself.

That made my day.

Nikon D300 w/500mm f/4
1/1500sec. f/4.0 ISO 200
Vertex Photographic Bean Bag on Dock for Support.
Shot right handed, focused with left eye.

Thanks for looking.

What a fine portrait, Joel, and I'm still chuckling over your background story

I like the detail you captured as well as the awesome color of the background.

Cheers,

Carol

Generally I'm not a gull fan (comes from living in Utah - long story and my own shortcoming I know) but the cock of the head makes this an interesting image for me Joel. I like it more the more I look at the larger image. The bill seems fairly sharp to the tip so I'm slightly surprised that the shoulder seems a little soft. Probably something in the perspective I'm missing...

Gorgeous treatment of this bird, Joel. I love the eye contact and subtle detail in the plumage. Worth lying down for. :toast:

Joel - you have really good dof for f4. And good clarity in the eye. Good joke too - I'll try and remember that one.
