Texas Bluebonnets are legendary for their beauty.
In late march or early April, these flowers plus a rainbow of others decorate the roadways and pastures North and West of Houston.

The pastures at the Texian Ranch in Brenham are filled to the brim entirely of bluebonnets, which co-exist peacefully with the cattle. The TX cutout shape is part of the ranch's gate.

unusual perspective, Lucy. The gate is a little to dominant for my taste, but still a different take on your Texas Bluebonnets.

I like the gate symbol, it might be a bit obvious to some, but it does make a good connection between the state and the symbol--which is a clever way to meet the theme this week. On the other hand, i dont feel the vignette adds anything here, maybe a subtler version might work... :wavey:

Lucy,

I like how the blue bonnets can be seen through the sut of of the outline of Texas, it seems fitting. I agree with Stan about the vignetting and I also see a purple cast, even to the top of the trees in the far background. Neat submission to this week's theme.

This is really cool for the theme. What are the orange things on the gate? Rust? Kind of distracting IMO, but who am I? I've only been to Tx in Autumn, so no flowers.

Very nice colour combination. The blue field is excellent. Only what is a bit disturbing is the red spot in the FG and I'd also try horizintal adjustmrent of the field.

Very good visual on the theme, Lucy. The techs need some attention, but the blue bonnets shine.

Bruce, the orange "things" are the old paint showing through as the black paint flakes off.

I do need a subtler vignette or some selective burning. the left bottom corner was much too bright for my taste....remember, I'm still learning! Also wanted you to focus right into the gate cutout, without cropping the photo.

Last of the responses is
"how do you get the purple out of the trees?" I tried cloning out the tops of the trees, but, the photo just got worse and worse. So, I used it anyway...warts and all!

It's funny,
just like to note, that most folks think bluebonnets are electric blue. But, they have a lot of navy in them and really appear almost purple.
also, it's neat that they have little white and pink" doves" on each petal....See the closeup........

Remember, this is not a "beauty shot" and is not in focus, but it does give you the look of the petals.
