This photo was taken with a Canon Rebel XT 350D using a 100mm-400mm Len set at 400mm on a tripod with the IS off. It was taken at an F stop of 5.6 at 1/250 sec and at an ISO of 200. Taken in Georgia

I like the composition and background. The DOF is too shallow; perhaps f/7.1 and a higher ISO? It is difficult to get a catchlight on these little guys (having not had much success myself!), but it would have made a better image. The large OOF object in the background is also problematic.

I like the oof pine needles in the bg and the mood of the image. The foreground bird seems a bit soft and I agree with Phil that a catchlight would have been very nice. Keep them coming. :toast:

Interesting shot Paul, I like the comp. I'd try adding a little more sharpening to the in focus bird. :toast:

Paul,

The colors in the background are lovely and I like how the bird in the back is out of focus enough to not be a distraction but just enough in focus to clearly show what species it is.

If you were shooting in aperture priority I may have bumped the ISO up to 400 to gain some shutter speed since chickadees are always so hyper. I do wish there was a little catchlight
