Really nice image with the bird filling the frame. I saw this show when it was in Galveston, TX. I admired the relationship between the bird and its trainer. I never posted because it was captive, but may reconsider. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

I love the smirk on the owl's face... all power, speed and death from above...

This is an awesome image! I would be tempted to see if I could clone some of the brightly colored objects from the BG

It may be a captive bird shot but this one got my attention Hal. It looks to me so much like a flying devil with that expression, the horns and those red eyes. Quite unusual.

Normally, I would not have even posted a photo of a captive bird. I have been to Omega Park lots of times, seen the birds of prey show numerous times and taken photos. The only reason is because I was so impressed with this bird, specially because I love Owls, and that this is a bird that I will never see in the wild since it is not a bird that is seen in North America, so I may probably never see one again. To be honest though, I found trying to get these captive birds in flight harder than wild birds because you are too close, and either the birds fly right towards you, or away from you. Using my 70-200mm, I think I might have been better off using my 50mm 1.4. That's how close I was, and when these big birds come flying in at such a close range, it's hard to get a good focus quickly enough. I tried shooting all the birds in flight that day, but this was the only one that came out. The rest were either all blurred or a lot of the bird was cut off, so the photos had to be dumped.

Wow! This has a lot of in-your-face impact. The wing position is quite dramatic. The man-made background not withstanding, a super picture.
