Charadrius semipalmatus

Taken early in the morning while laying in wet sand on the Gulf coast of Florida.

D200, f5.6, 1/2000, ISO 250, 0 EV comp, aperture priority, 80-400mm VR at 400mm, 80% of original frame, natural light. Large image provided for evaluation of sharpness and detals. Removed a few dust spots and a small dark blob near my copyright.

I like the light and the diagonal created by a ridge of wet sand sloping down to the water.

I sincerely appreciate your comments and critique, thank you for looking.

lovely, Mia. nice soft light and nice catchlight, great setting and low angle. the raised foot is the perfect touch. it might be just a hair centered for me--I might take a sliver off the right/top.

Beautiful soft lighting here, Mia. The larger version really shows the great feather details. :toast:

Great soft lighting with the lovely raised foot, just wish for more room on the bottom.

A lovely image Mia - I especially like the raised foot pose, diffuse background and the clarity of the bird.

Beautiful angle and light, Mia! You've captured it doing its "prodding" thing!

Great low angle and the raised foot is a nice touch. Maybe a hair more room on the bottom, but that's a personal thing.

Thank you for the comments thus far on this image.

David & Luke, Unfortunately I have no room to spare on the bottom, my lens was as low as it could be in to get the wonderful looking wet sand.

Love it Mia. I really enjoy the nice low angle. I like the impending action with the raised foot and last but not least the lighting is excellent.

Superb lighting and the low angle make the shot, Mia. The detail and the pose are very good. They look a lot different out of breeding plumage...

You put your right foot in, you put your right foot out .......
Great timing Mia - is this mid stride or doing the foot puddling thing?
Great light and low angle

I saw the thumb and had a feeling this was your image. Getting down to the plover's eye level make this a very intimate image. :toast:
