Fox kit

This was taken May 25, 2010 in northern Utah. There was a den of four kits not far from a dirt road, they were so close that I had to take my TC off. This kit is just outside one of the entrances to the den.

I have several images with this kit looking towards me and zoomed back some, but I liked the profile presented here. The kit was looking at a flock of white-faced ibis flying overhead.

D200, f9, 1/250, ISO 250, 200-400mm VR at 400mm, aperture priority, 0 EV comp, 98% of the original frame. Larger version posted for evlauation of sharpness & detail.

As always, I sincerely appreciate your comments & critiques, thank you for looking.

MIa,

super cute shot with those 2 paws hanging out in front. It looks a little bright globally - but I would try toning down brightness on everything but the kit first and see what the results are. Maybe a touch of contrast boost would help too. Nice find

This is beautiful, and the pose is brilliant. It's very sharp. I agree with Luke about it being too bright. Otherwise, it's perfect.

Great job, Mia. The choice of f9 is perfect, giving dof for all the head and paws. The busyness of the all the background grass detail could have been a problem, but it softens nicely as posted. Something I would maybe try is to selectively darken ( by a very small amount) the background foliage, just to see if it would provide a bit of dramatic "pop." I like the profile pose, but what pleases me most are those cute round paws!

Great pose and I like the lower angle. Agree it could use a little contrast and just a little saturation.
