M-O-T-H spells lunch

I was lucky enough to catch this dragonfly (species ?) with a recent meal. Late afternoon light was still a little harsh. Manual focus as lens was searching too much. VR ineffective when photographer is being sucked into the muck and water. The whine and drone of mosquitos in the eyes and ears is also distracting (poor excuse, I know.) Thanks for looking.

C/C welcome and appreciated

Thanks for comments, guys. Can't do much about where he decides to eat, Jamie. Just wanted to capture this and this where I was able to sneak into. If you think the stalk is distracting, you should have seen the rest of the OF leaf on the left! Gary, I noticed he doesn't like the dark meat either!

Nice capture of the dragonfly (Elisa skimmer?) munching down. Some tough elements keep this from being stronger, such as the vertical green stalk in the background which distracts. Good results considering your battle with the muck, mosquitoes, and auto-focus. :toast:

Bruce:
Nice action capture considering the adverse conditions. Moth legs must not be too tasty as these seem to be discarded on the leaf.

Mmmmm..nothing like moths for lunch!

Nice catch. As you mentioned the light is a little bit harsh but not horribly so. Good job focusing on the eyes and I like the diagonal comp.

Looks like a Ruby Meadow hawk.

Good behavorial shot Bruce. I would agree with Joel on this being a Ruby Meadowhawk, it has the distinct black triangles on the lower abdomen. There is also a white faced, same DF only a, you guessed it...a white face. Lighting is a bit harsh, but not too bad.
