Captured this Ebony Jewelwing (male) down at the river the other day. Been shooting alot of broad winged damselflies lately, despite the dry weather. The river is getting lower and have noticed the decline of activity. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this came out since I was at f/3.8. I love the colors of the damselflies, the can change from irredecent green to blue depending on how the light hits them. Hope you like.

This one let you in pretty close and I think you have good detail, as you mentioned, especially for 3.8. I've not had much luck with detail in damselflies because they are so small, but I think you lined this one up perfectly with detail from stem to stern. Good clean background also :toast: What are those black specs mid vein??

Thank you for your comment Jamie. As for the black specs, not sure what they are, it was heavily wooded where I was shooting so it could be anything, even specs from the DF's wings.

Doug:
A very good capture indeed, tack sharp head to tail including the veins on the wings. Clean BG. :toast:

Hey Doug, very nice image. The light really makes the shot. I would clone out the white area in the upper left corner. :toast:

Amazing DOF @ f/4 Doug. Details, colors, and exposure look very good..
I'm with Mike, I'd probably work on that upper left corner. Tends to draw your eye away from this beauty..
Well done :toast:
