Resting combatants

Taken in the Butterfly Pavilion in Colorado. The blue morphs were the most active I had seen. They were flying from flower to flower, and landing without folding up their wings, they were being chased by a number of other butterflies. Shortly after taking this photo the larger blue morph took off with the smaller butterfly chasing it whenever it tried to feed. (at least this is my interpretation of the behavior) this made for some interesting but difficult photo ops.

Canon T1i

Canon S 55-250mm lens @ 90mm plus 12mm extension tube.

John: Tough place to shoot. I've been there several times and the butterflies tend to get beat up by the mesh on the roof. They do look like old WW2 fighter planes back from a mission. Well seen. >=))>

John:
Great to get two butterflies in the same picture. Both look rather battered. Wish the blue clipper wing wasn't clipped.
