Ronnie

This photo has a very peaceful mood to it that I enjoy immensely. The comp you used enhances that feeling too. Lovely pose and great view of the big feet this species has. The natural colors are great and your techs are excellent as usual. I'd be happy to have this image in my files.

Another splendid presentation Ronnie. Sharpness and detail are stellar, esp for 1/50.

Soft lighting and a good angled perch, well done. The detail in the feathers is really something special.

MY truck and MY beanbag sure are not as good as yours - or maybe it's the photographer?
Another fine image!

Wow, another beauty! 1/50 of a second, I guess if he can be still so can you. Just love the pose and the way the composition uses the space within the frame. Ronnie, is there an advantage to setting the white balance if shooting raw vs using the Auto WB (which I have been doing)?

Hi Gary,
Ronnie, is there an advantage to setting the white balance if shooting raw vs using the Auto WB (which I have been doing)?
No, but I find setting my D200 to Direct Sunlight I get more accurate color out of the camera. So when I'm viewing my images in the field they look better. All those in-camera setting don't mean much when shooting raw.
I use Nikon Capture NX to make my first adjustments to color cast, brightness/contrast and saturation. I never adjust color cast using white balance adjustment in Capture. I have found a better way to correct color.

Thanks Ronnie. I was using NX, but went to Lightroom when I got a newer Nikon (D700), as the old NX 1 didn't support it. I really liked the results I seemed to get from NX, but my old computer at the time had a heck of a time running that program and I'm more than a little afraid to go back to Nikon software, I hear others decree the same problem. Take Care.
