Death Grip

I'd been watching this spider in my roses, waiting for the right opportunity. When it came it was breezy and this shot was taken during a calmer, very brief moment. I still had to crank up the ISO to freeze the movement, so noise is a problem. The bee was still alive and occassionally tried to escape and when he did the spider would rotate his victim for a firmer grip. I have a few shots where the bee is literally in a bear hug from beneath. They are definitely the best compositions but the wind was really kicking so the ISO went even higher causing so much noise that ACR in PSE7 couldn't even touch it. Any suggestions resolving extreme noise would be appreciated. Comments welcome, thanks for looking.

Awesome detail and light, Bruce. Not bad at all for ISO 2000. I've got to get one of those Sigma 150's.

This is a really interesting capture. I like the DOF, the spider being behind the sharp focus works well for this image. Well captured especially given the light constraint. Noise Ninja works well IMO :wavey:

Very nice capture. The position of the subjects, with the spider OOF is superb.

Congrats

Bruce:
The noise is not that bad at iso2000. On the D90, the highest I would go is around 800 but this is really a great improvement on the d5000. Nice capture and love the red petals.

Thanks for the comments. I agree the noise at ISO 2000 isn't too bad at all. But I have other shots of the spider and the bee at a higher ISO that are much worse. Unfortunately they are also the best compositions.
