Red Rock Lilies

This small little lake has an abundance of these lilies every year, and it is right off of the road going into Braniard Lake Recreation Area.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Love the pattern in this and the sense of depth going through the image Morris. A very unusual and creative image for my tastes. No suggestions.

Would you mind telling me what focal length you shot this at?

Morris, Why did you use ISO320  ?

Really like the geometry formed by the leaves right in front with the nice big bloom at the center there. Deep blue sky reflected in water also adds some good interest.

Thanks, Ram, I attribute it to age a failing memory.

Thanks Morris. I appreciate the focal length info. You certainly don't need to post specs unless you want. I was just curious in this case. Many thanks.

The pattern of the pads is great Morris. Sure is high contrast light, and I'm not sure if like that aspect. But the detail on the fg foliage is really good.

Morris:
The vertical framing accentuates the depth of field nicely. :toast: Also like the graduated reflected blue sky. A calming image, just perfect of contemplation.

Morris, I like the point of view here, and also how the fg water blends to blue at mid point. Good take on lilies.

A bit contrasty due to the strong light, but very nice nonetheless. I like the compositional choices you made, particularly the placement of the main bloom.

Morris, Almost shades of Steven Spielberg. I'm thinking of two of his films (one was Schindler's List) in which there was a B/W scene with a single rose in color.

I like what you've done very much. Thanks for adding the specs.

Good job.

Love the receding elements and especially the arrangement of the foreground bloom and lily pads.

Morris,

I really like the perspective and great DOF in this image, the leaves floating on the water make an interesting eye catching pattern and the unusual yellow blooms sprinkled amongst the pads are perfect.

Very striking image, Morris !! Love the perspective and the superb lighting. Especially I admire the way the the yellow flower in the fg grounds the composition.
