At The Rookery II

Almost the identical image in my last post. The difference is this image was taken two years later of the same nest and about two months earlier when the chicks were first hatched. The point to both these post is to show that there are preferred nesting sites in the rookery that are used year after year. The best sites always go to the early arrivals. I have no way of knowing if it's the same adults each year.

Full Frame: Lost some pixels because I had to level the image.

Beautiful! And very interesting back story. Incredible how you shot this two years apart from the other one, yet the view looks identical. Well done. :toast: :toast:

Ronnie,

This is as enchanting as your previous post. The light (especially the spotlight on the bird), natural colors and setting make this image sing. And I love the size of the egret in the frame.

REonnie, the thing that really gets me about this being two years later, is the light seems identical. Very cool. Love the color and exposure on this. Your choice for DOF works perfect with the environment.

"It's all about the light" Fantastic lighting, that made the image for me. The bird's pose isn't very strong imo, on the thumbnail I couldn't tell what it was but other than that, this images its beautiful. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me.

The difference between March and May sure looks different in your neck of the woods than it does in mine Ronnie - both shots are so lush and green. The light on the overhanging diagonal branch makes a significant difference in this shot. Neat to compare these two images.

Think I prefer this one Ronnie - like the dappled effect and the lone bird isolated in all that forest.

cheers

Very interesting to see the same shot 2 years apart. I think this one is my favorite. I like the bird's pose and the lighting is fantastic! Again to me it looks like an Orton effect. Lovely.
