This shot was taken at the tail end of a wicked thunder storm over Lake Tahoe. Sounds cliche', but it was definitely one of the most intense light shows I've witnessed. Thanks for looking.

fabulous light and mood to this. it almost seems to have been captured with an ND filter (with the warm cast and long exposure). i like the subtle details and layers. well done.

This is gorgeous, Christopher! Love the mood and atmosphere. Id be tempted to crop out the far lhs since that one hot spot is pretty hot. Sweet shot!

Love it!
Can you cool/tame that hot spot a little?

Fabulous satin sheets of burnished gold. It's a beautiful tone poem of a shot that mesmerises. I would probably agree with Stan that a small crop to lose some of the weight of hot light on the left to balance that on the right would be advantageous. I assume this is a relatively long exposure.

I agree with the hot spot issue, but overall sweet.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I did try my best to control that spot, but I was getting some artifacts around the area that I wasn't happy with. I will try to attack it again. but admittedly, my PP skills are pretty weak. Suggestions?? I may explore the crop option.
Yes, this shot was taken with a 10 stop ND. Exposure was around 3min.
Thanks again!

This is extremely fascinating! Would never have guessed this was Tahoe, almost looks more like a desert than a lake. Great work presenting the area in a completely unique and beautiful way.

I like the defined lines in the mountain ridge and edge of the lake against the blurred, impressionistic clouds and water.

Wicked indeed! Very unusual image Chris, I really like it. I would be curious to see this in a pano style comp as well with a bit of the sky cut out.

Amazing and very beautiful tones. Looks like a piece of art rather than a violent storm.

Chris,
Never would have guessed Lake Tahoe. This is outstanding! I've got nothing to nitpick or suggest here. Beautiful and dramatic.

Chris,
This is fantastic. I've lurked on this site for a while and registered just to be able to comment. I've got two different ideas to help tame the hot spot on the left, but both involve using layers and masks. If you're interested, drop me a line and I'll try to step you through it.
Very, very nice though.
Best,
Mark.
