Spray Park Wildflowers

Spay Park has gone wild! If you're itching to photograph wildflowers in Mt. Rainier National Park, head to the Northwest section of the Park. Make sure and bring lots of repellent as the mosquitoes have just hatched and they are mighty hungry!

I have been spending a lot of time in the Park and haven't come away with an image with Rainier in it that I'm happy with. The upside is that I've been searching for alternative subjects and have pushed myself artistically. I loved the miniature evergreen trees (young trees or dwarf trees, help?) that grow in the meadows of Spray Park.

Thanks for the C & C's!

Nice detailed shot with lots of color to enjoy. Composition works very nicely for me . . . I feel as if I'm standing right there in the meadow, and the line of evergreens in the top 1/3 adds an effective backdrop.

Glad to see you pushing yourself to find new things Justin. These smalls trees are nice and the subtle horizontal rows leads your eye off into the middle ground where the reddish flowers are.

I am tempted to crop some from the top, but this works very well

Really nice punch of color. Beautiful spot. I like what looks like a little bit of vignette on this image, it really pops the center. I would probably favor a top crop, but it also looks really nice as presented.

Wow, what a great display of flowers! I was wondering when we'd get to see some from the Rainier gardens. I would crop a bit off the top to a 4x5 aspect ratio that focuses more on the flowers.

This is very pretty and I really like the colors. When I crop from the top to just a little above the rock on the right it just seems to make everything pop. It looks great. The flowers are awesome.

Justin,

Beautiful mountain meadow image. I too would favor a crop of the trees. While the trees obviously help define a sense of place and the edge of the forest, compositionally I think they take away from the field of flowers. Otherwise, this is quite lovely and I really like the scattering of the Owl's Clover. Very nice.

I love those flowers. I'm still looking for good comp in my location. Will you post the cropped version?

How beautiful is this? The only thing I would've done is crop half the evergreens from the top to put even more emphasis on those flowers. I really love the cropped version!
