Pygmy Nuthatch

Pygmy Nuthatches are common here, and although they're one of my favorite birds, they were missing in my files. I caught this one in a couple of poses this morning on this set up perch near a waterhole.

Canon 7D, 500mm + 1.4x TC, monopod (tripod arrived this afternoon by UPS!).

1/125, f/6.3, ISO 500

Crop to 45% (8.1 of 18MP), NR on bg, sharpening on bird, cloned out a second catchlight which I assume was reflected off the water.

Cute little guy. The detail and pose are great, and the two-tone bg frames the subject well. Good job!

Lovely light and background Brian, I like the pose of the nuthatch and the eye contact. I also like the comp and the nice details.

You've got a very productive spot there. This is a fine image with nice detail and lovely understated monochrome tones.

Beautiful shot, Brian. You really captured this little guy well. He looks a bit bedraggled: sort of a "morning after the night before" look! Lovely colors. Great perch. Nice background.

Very cute bird, Brian. I like the head turn and the bg is great. You don't mention time of day, but it looks to me like you had pretty nice light.
