The Divine Light

Another image from Iceland, on our way to the Jökulsárlón glacier lake we had some great light shining through the mountains so we stopped and made some images.

While the image had some great colour, this scene for me was mainly defined for the quality of the light, so I felt converting it to b&w would emphasise that quality. The awesome thing about Iceland is that in summer you have lots of time with great light, simply because the sun is low all night long

Let me know what you think!

p.s. View in a darkish room to get the most out of this image.

Wonderful comp with great lines here Jorne. I think it was a great photo to go BW too. My only suggestion would be to open up the far slope a bit; the sky is overwhelming it.

Jorne,

I can definitely see that divine light and I think you did well with the b&w. I'm curious though just for comparison how the color version looks? And I'm wondering if there's a way you can accentuate the light beams any more to bring them out? My only other suggestion would be to crop the upper section of clouds for a more pano format; which I think might do well to echo the line of the sun rays too.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Lon: thanks for the suggestions! The colour version is actually very pale, one of the reasons I switched to a b&w version. I used tk's actions to try and accentuate the lightbeam. Will definitly give th pano crop a go, think it will work well indeed!
