This is a photo of a wild monkey that lives near the top of Mt.Rinjani in Lombok, Indonesia....Mt.Rinjani is an active volcano and these monkeys live around the crater rim, although this one seems pretty vicious he is actually yawning, from my encounters with monkeys in SE Asia they are usually fairly aggressive but these ones were very shy and timid.

I like how small and inset the eyes are and those big big fangs. I'd try and recover some of the highlights in the fur though.

I think you did a good job of zooming in close to emphasize that open mouth. Nice posting. It helps others offer constructive comments on your postings if you include camera, lens and shooting settings. Thanks for sharing this interesting view.

Simon, that is some impressive set of teeth! If you would not have mentioned it is yawning I would have though it is screaming. Two small things: firstly, I find the BG just right of the monkey a little distracting. I feel a tighter crop eliminating this will strengthen the image. Secondly, I would suggest to try and retrieve some more detail in those eyes.

thanks for the comments everyone, I am not sure how to get anymore detail out of the eyes , I think because it was a quick yawn I focused on his nose and not his eyes so it is slightly out of focus on my old 300mm F4.5 IS lens.
