Well, it's not really in 3D, it's just that the wife saw this on the monitor and she said it looked like it was 3D so who am I to argue with her

Taken on Skomer, West Wales.

Sigma 50-500
1/1250th second
f7.1
ISO 200
360mm full frame
-0.7 stop exposure compensation
Centre-weighted metering
Hand held

It certainly has a 3D look to it. Stunning colors, details and settings. The only nit (and it's a minor one) is it's tight on the bottom. Otherwise this is one of the best non-flight puffin shots I've ever seen.

Thanks Luke

I'm kicking myself that I didn't zoom out a bit more, this is more or less as shot, I think I've cropped a little off the top, that's all.

Your wife has a good eye for dimension Geoffrey and the puffin looks very good. I like the colors throughout. Agree about the tightness on the tail.

A very pleasing image. I love the setting. A bit more space at the bottom would hae been nice but it doesn't ruin the image for me.

Great composition. Perhaps you could lighten up the face a bit more since it looks significantly darker than the body white.

Geoffrey, This is unbelievably awesome. The environment, the details, colours and bg all come together perfectly. Superb composition. This has to be a winner somewhere.

GREAT WORK. :toast:

Beautiful shot, lots of sharpness and I love the DOF. Composition may be a tad too tight but it really doesn't bother me. Thanks for sharing.

Beautifully detailed Geoffrey and the flowers add a very nice touch. I'm wondering whether it needs a little more room at the bottom to cater for the virtual tail even though it is very short??

cheers

Thanks everyone, glad you all like my photo

All the Puffins I've ever seen have greyish faces, I looked it up in my bird book and it describes them as having "grubby looking" faces, which sounds about right to me, their chests however are white
