Red Squirrel

1D Mk iv, 600mm f4, 1/160s, f8, iso 800. Cloud temporarily obscuring sun.

First outing with new Mk iv - messed up loads of shots due to unfamiliarity with the controls. I also had a problem saving for the web - the saturation was increased using the "save for web" command, so I simply saved as Jpeg, which seemed OK at the time. Red squirrels look very different (and just as appealing) in their summer coat.

Very nice, really like the pose, great expression, very sharp. The underside white could use just a bit more detail, but not a major thing. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ian, congrats on your new machine! :toast: You won't regret that purchase after you get used to the controls. I do not understand exactly what the issue was with save for web, I use it all the time. Just watch your colorprofiles, I do know I save for web keeping the Adobe RGB profile and convert later in PS to sRGB for web posting. That workflow however was adopted after the purchase of a wide gamut screen.
Anyway I love the low angle here, the DOF, but especially those long whiskers! I do agree with John that the whites need a bit more detail. That should be easy to achieve in post processing, especially by blending double RAW exposures, the DR on the MK4 is still impressively good at ISO800.

hey Ian...good to see a post from you. I really like the colors, BG and your normal low angle in this shot. Congrats on the new camera....I know you will love it! BTW, looks like this needs a very small CW rotation.
