Wild horses in North Dakota from our trip in May. I feel very fortunate to have captured this intimate moment. But what do you think of it?

D 700, 300/2.8 with 2x teleconverter, tripod, f 13, 1/100, ISO 3200, -0.67 EV.

Thanks for looking.

While it would have been nice if the horses had been turned more towards the camera, one can't deny the appeal of this photograph. It has a super 'aww" factor. Terrific!

I love the setting and the hint of light on the mare's face and mane. Exposure looks excellent. The biggest nit is that they are moving slightly away from the lens rather than slightly toward it. That is a frustrating, recurring problem with photographing animals! If only we had that extra eye contact... I am unsure of the clipping of the mare's backside and backline if this is full frame. I think it would work better with more space all around, putting them more into the scene. I hope you had time for some other clicks as well, as they are beautiful subjects.

What a cutie!
I also wish you'd been able to get in front of them, but this is super as is.

Catherine, I do wish they were coming towards you, but still like what you were able to achieve in this. It has a very intimate feel to it. Like mom is teaching her young. BTW, where in ND did you find the heard? I almost took a trip to the reservation in SD this year, but had my camera in the shop after dropping it into a lake (another story).
