WC 447 Thirsty Kitty
by Lucy VanSwearingen
I shot this at the Houston Zoo handheld. I loved catching this tiger drinking. I wanted to convey the tiger's strength, by pumping up the color and blurring the background to emphasize only the tiger. I also cropped off the rest of his body to draw more attention to the action, not just the animal
I know I got a little smudge of green on his face....I'll correct that later. I've stayed up way too long already!

5 commentsAm I wrong, that I assumed a zoo tiger could be posted in the zoo weekly challenge. I saw witch way and watercolor layers and thought this would work. I know the photo is a very bold work of art, but I wanted it to be strong....too strong?? I see this hung on a big wall, not in a little frame, so I tried to fit the color with the viewing distance
If photo art, that still shows the subject, is not accepted here, moderator, please....tell me!
remember, I'm still a newbie at posting photos..... And, I want all the critique I can get!!! just don't understand the rules, yet.
Stan Rose has repeatedly said that Photo Art is fine for a weekly challenge. However, Photo Art outside the Photo Art forum sometimes bothers folks. It doesn't bother me, though.
I like the tiger here--great pose! The problem i see (as already mentioned) is that the vivid greens and extreme blurring (almost looks liquified) pull the attention away from the tiger--which is contrary to your goal here. I would suggest a more subtle blurring, and maybe desaturation of the surroundings. Did i mention i like the tiger?
