Desert visions

Hi guys

Another few minutes to post another photo from the june trip to Namibia. This time I used the 300 mm lens to compress the trees of dead vlei and to get advantage from the light reflected from the white ground to provide some kind of strange light to the trees.

RAW, ISO 200, 300mm, f/7,1, 1/160 sec. Procesed with Adobe Lightroom 3.

Hope you like it
Roberto

What an intriguing shot. The textures in the background are lovely and the use of the longer lens has given relationship between the background and trees an almost surreal feel. I quite like it but am still trying to get my head around the scale and proportions etc. Nice work.

I like the way you've compressed the image here with the long lens... it gives the image an almost mirage type quality, particularly in the fg. I might experiment with a slight perspective crop to pull the LRC down and the ULC up. Nice take on an oft photographed setting.

Very cool mirage-like quality to this, with the trees almost floating above the sand. It conveys both the heat and distance quite effectively.

I like the different light on these trees Roberto. I like the backdrop as well.

I really like this because it is so different. The compression of the trees with the cliff (?) behind them is very interesting.

What a surreal landscape! I love how the lighting has brought out the textures in the background dunes. The lack of strong shadows adds to the surreal look. Well done!

Fantastic surreal image Roberto.
Love the graphic shadows and shapes.
The out of focus aspect to the foreground detracts for me a little.
Well done.

Roberto,
Really like the way you have composed this image. Isolating the trees works well. Nice light too. Best Regards.

the trees provide lots of interest here. I wouldn't have minded if the BG was a touch brighter? and it does seem a little tilted?

it's really interesting to see these images from deadvlei. i was there almost exactly 19 years ago and all these dunes have vegetation on them; they were perfectly smooth when i visited!
