A no-brainer for me. Ive spent more time in this natl park over the last couple of years than all the other parks combined. It just keeps giving, and i never tire of the 'same' comps since the light is always changing, and every scene is different. It's a lot of fun in B&W too!

Gee, really Stan? The Sand Dunes? I like the patch of sunlight on the dunes in the middle and the tree in the LLC really amplifies the size of the dunes.

Stan,

Don't the accolades bore you now? I was wondering if you'd pick this area with so many stunning places in your state to choose from. However this seems to be home for you, kinda like Palos Verdes is for me. You've seen it in all it's moods, in all types of weather and light and even if you only return with a few images it never seems to disappoint. Wonderful conversion the tonal range is scrumptious. The spotlighted dune is an interesting double crescent, and the leading line of the crest from left to right leads the eye nicely through the image. Not one sour note in this performance, Bravo.

The shadows and light playing on the wavy sands work very well in this B&W. I really like this one. The one main highlight looks a little blown, viewed on my laptop monitor.

you own the sand dunes, Stan :). This image works very well in b/w, with great dune and light patterns

It works beautifully in B&W, Stan! Love the light, the curved ridge working it's way up and the wonderful textures. The little row of vegetation at the bottom really helps put it in perspective for scale also. Very nice :toast:

Another beautiful photo of the dunes!

I am glad that this is a favorite place of yours. Through you I have gained an appreciation of the beauty there. I must admit that I am drawn to water and that all my favorite haunts are along streams or lakes and thus without this site and your photos I would never have been aware of the beauty in those "Stan Dunes".

Stan, I'm not sure what possesses you when you're at the Dunes, but your photography from there is just out of this world. My all time favorite Stan Dune image is your recent Lord of the Dunes - absolutely amazing! Like Peter, I have always been drawn to wet/green places, but you have made the dunes look just as beautiful.

Excellent shadows and DOF. May be I'd appreciate a bit, bit more light on the last layer (the last hill in BG). Nicely done Stan.
