I wasn't sure wether to post this in the fauna or in the birds gallery, but saw that the main subject, well indeed that that occupies the biggest part of the frame, is the texture of a Giraffe i choose for the first.
It was shot in Tarangire Ntl Park Tanzania in 2007.

Techs: D2Xs - Nikkor 300 F/4 + TC 1,7 - iso200 - 1/250

C&C welcome

I love your title Luca - it made me smile  and I sure needed that today. Terrific close-up of these freeloaders.

A delightful image. I love the sharp texture of the giraffe, the diagonal drawing of the neck similar to a slope and the pose of the birds.

Really like the texture you've captured in the giraffe's fur. Direction of the bird's heads and the way the back of the giraffe splits the frame both add to the image.

I am so glad you decided to post this here Luca, these oxpeckers are so much a part of large African mammals that they belong here  . This is very cool, I like the way you have composed this with the Giraffe's neck going from corner to corner. Visually I think this could benefit from a slight mid-tone contrast boost, perhaps on the giraffe only. :toast:

Love the way you titled this. I wonder if somehow increasing the contrast to the giraffe would make this image pop. Like it.

Great photo, very funny!
The giraffe's colors somehow don't seem right to me, though?

I like where you placed the oxpeckers within the frame and the diagonal line of the giraffe.

Hi all, and thanks for your comments.
@Ingrid, for what I've learnt, and it is very little, giraffe's colors depend on different factors: where they live and their age (not sure if also what they eat make the difference as for flamingo feathers). That's all I know (admitted it is true) but there were plenty of them dark like this.

Cheers, luca

Nkice composition. You placed the birds at the right spots. I love the fur of the giraffe with the diagonals and the circular pattern reflecting in the sun.
