Porthcawl Sunset

Taken at Rest Bay, Porthcawl, South Wales, UK.

Whenever I'm browsing through the images on my hard drive I find myself pausing at this one, so I guess that means I must like it right?

I processed this one evening when I must have been having a "Picasso moment"

I realise it won't be to everyone's taste but I just have to process my images in a way that seems right to me at the time, it's all about expression I guess, I'm not usually a very artistic person but I do have my moments

Minolta Dynax 7D
Sigma 10-20 EX
1.3 seconds
f22
ISO 100
10mm
-0.3 stop exposure compensation
Centre-weighted metering
Tripod
Probably used a ND grad but was taken a few years ago so can't remember

Lovely scene Geoffrey, and your artistic view works very well for me. Beautiful scene and well presented! :toast: :toast:

A very attractive seascape. Those rock formations work very well as foreground interest.

Works for me. Nice comp and colors. I really like those fg rocks and the smooth textures on them. Nice work.

I think this is wonderful Geoffrey. I like the mixture of warm and cool colors and I think your comp is very good.

I think the palette of colors really makes this shot.

Geoffrey, I am actually really liking the exposure, colors and processing. The texture and shape of the foreground rocks are very interesting. I don't have a crop suggestion, but I have to say that the right side and the sky aren't doing that much for me.

This is excellent, Geoffrey - I especially like that you didn't polarize out the bit of glare on the rocks, which I really like in this case. In these days of image blending, we're so used to seeing uniform exposures, that I would like to see the right side rocks lightened up more to match the fg more closely

This is very nice. I really like the light and colors. The foreground rocks with the smooth and shinny look is very nice. The long exposure worked out very good. A nice look!

I love the glaze coming off the foreground rocks. Tremendous shapes also. The waves add to the overall mood. Very likable and artistic image Geoffrey.

The foreground rocks look like they have a nice polish, but maybe that's a glaze of water. I think you could still crop about half the sky and still have a very strong image.
