Misty River

I was down in the lower Uintas last year about this time when a rain storm started brewing. I jumped in the car and headed up the highway. It eventually turned to snow and my car started to fish tail. So, I stopped and found my way down to the river. As the storm cleared, there were some pretty cool misty conditions with light cutting through the trees and striking it. This is 1 RAW file double processed for luminosity. I took a second exposure and blended in the bright area just below the sun to accentuate the light striking the mist.

Canon 5D2 (In fact, this was img_0001 from the new camera).

Nice processing here, Ron. I think it goes a long way towards capturing the mood of the morning. What a pleasant scene captured even despite the harshness of the highlights. Probably the best 0001 shot I've seen.

Great job handling the strong contrasts. It's a very soothing image to look at.

Sweet. Feels a bit CCW-tilted, but hard to notice with the way you handled the light. Excellent processing to take this to the next level.

I'm impressed! My 0001 shot is usually of the camera store, my hand, carpet, etc. That's quite an auspicious start.
