Limpkin with Chick

This is not a great photo; I had to do a lot more processing that I usually do; the lighting was terrible and it was nearly impossible to get a clear view of the two birds. I still like it for the interaction of mother and chick, and it's the first limpkin I ever saw or photographed. The chick was very interested in everything the mother did and she was feeding it some kind of slimy black ball that I couldn't recognize.

Hi Sharon,
I can see where the difficult lighting forced you to do some heavy processing. However I do like the interaction between the mother and chick.

Terrific catch with parent and chick, nice poses from the two birds. Agree it does have a bit of a 'processed' look to it...not quite natural.

I like the low angle of this a lot Sharon. I also like the behavior of mother teaching her young. Considering all the ehavy processing you had to do, I think you did a very nice job.

Sharon-A lovely and intimate pose of mother and chick. With moments as these the emotion supersedes the technical, IMO. Very nicely captured. :toast:

Nothing wrong with pp when the image tells a story like this. Good one, Sharon.

Very cool behavorial shot Sharon. I love how the chick is intently watching the adult. I see a bit of a halo around the adults back, probably from a step in your processing, but still a nice image.

Sharon,

Limpkins eat snail, so you may have been seeing the adult feeding the chick small snails. The adults eat huge apple snails and it is fun to watch them do that.

I love the interaction and the intimacy of this image.
