I have been working on this off and on for a while now and even though the original is pretty monochromatic, I think I prefer the B&W rendition over the color. Even though the softness of the hues in the color image are very appealing to me (See the second image). My first post from this series HERE back in April has turned into a popular print and was used as the guide for this version.
Hope you enjoy it.

Canon D30 Canon 35-350 @ 100mm 1/500th @ f11 iso 200 HH shot as a jpg in sRGB. B&W conversion done with channel mixer in PS.

Thanks for looking.
Comments always appreciated.

The color version for comparison.

Very nice, Neil. You might consider a sliver less sky to move the horizon a little more away from center. It is a matter of taste, but I think I prefer soft subtle colors of the color version!

I like how the two trees frame the wildebeest and how the dusty highlights separate and illuminate the animals. The color version maintains the monochromatic look but has a nicer (for me) warmer tone.

HI Neil,

My vote goes for the B&W version - to my eye the tonal range is a little wider and it has more mood. I think Lon might have a point about taking a thin slice off the top (but only a very thin one). Compositionally this works very well for me - everything from the framing trees through to the positioning and direction of movement of the Wildebeest. Well done. 2001?? There were cameras back then??

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...pleasure to view!

I like the choice for bw as there wasn't much color in the color version to begin with. I do prefer the other version though, with a bit less foreground. With this shot I'd be tempted to crop a slice from the top and bottom.

I prefer the b&w version! The composition is great and I like the dust clouds. A very slight crop off of the top of the image might make this an even stronger image. :wavey:

Very nice pano compostion. I also happen to like the color version a little better, it just seems to have a better contrast and relays to me the dry conditions they are facing but with a hint of green on the horizon. Well done.

I like this very much Neil, I prefer this B&W version.
The added contrast does it for me, more dramatic IMO..
Well done!
