Due to cloudy, overcast weather, I decided not to hike to the top of this mountain and instead focus on this little waterfall closer to the bottom. There was a lot of debris at the base of the falls and an old logging road passing in front. Thanks for your comments and critiques. XSi,10-22@10mm,1.5sec @f16,ISO100,1 image processed twice.

Dean, I would tone down the reds quite a bit but otherwise I think this is a great job of composing the complexities of the forest landscape in a way that compliments the waterfall and gives us a sense of the place.

Thanks for the input,Marc. I've never adjusted just one colour before so I gave it try.

One of the best waterfall shots I've seen lately. My only nit are the saturation of the branches, perhaps it's my monitor, but they look a bit too strong.
Wonderful capture.

Dean, if you're using Photoshop just find the ol' sponge tool in the dodge/burn menu (I think this even works with Elements) and just desaturate the reds with it instead of making a broad-scale adjustment to the whole image. They look almost the same in the second post IMO.

Really like your comp and exposure time here. I'm with mark, I think the falls and forest gets lost with all that red. I might tone down the reds and try to bring out the falls and bg.

Marc's comments are right on regarding the reds, but otherwise this is really well done.

I love the mood here, Dean. The fog, mist and falls look great. Really well done. I also agree about the red being a little too much, but this is a wonderful image.

These are some beautiful waterfalls. The branches in the ULC distract me a bit. Looks like this scene has a lot of potential.

Ditto the reds - even the repost is still a bit hot, but's that's a minor issue and an easy fix. Your composition is excellent and this has such a nice mood - excellent image.

I love the falls and the misty atmosphere. I am afraid I am also in the anti-red camp ;-)

Due to overwhelming opinion on the "red" front and my poor repost, I've had another go at it. Hopefully I haven't gone too far the other way.

A nice waterfall image, I love all the strewn branches below that anchor the foreground. I looks wet and stormy for sure.

Complex, but the light pulls it all together. I could see a bit of a crop off the bottom.

I think I would tone down the greens in the foreground some but leave the rest the way they are.

Nice moody image, great colors and comp. Feels like the right side fg is a tad bright, might be worth trying to balance things out a little more, just a minor nit though, very nice.

After writing that, I noticed you reposted with some changes. Nice work.
