Sleep Tight -- Gentian

Have been tied down for a while, so here‘s an addition to my last post from the "harsh light" theme a couple of weeks ago. Two shots were needed to show the "action" here. The pair of images document the Fringed Gentian flower closing when the Sun sets. Ten minutes after I shot the first photo, I took the second one, as the afternoon shadows caused the flower to close up for the night.

Canon 50D
Sigma 150 mm. f/2.8 Macro + Circ. Pol.
f/11; ISO 200
Tripod; 2-sec. timer w/Mirror Up; Reflector

This is exceptional Wayne. I had no idea they'd move that much in ten minutes. They're both beautiful images of course. Glad you got lose to capture and post these.

Hope you're doing well.

Wayne, you're working in pairs today. As lovely as these area, they can't begin to compare with the Monarch shots IMVHO

Lovely captures, both.

Great Capture. Good job with the harsh light. Nice to see the time lapse and how quickly the flower moves. Gentian are one of my favorite flower genus and the fringed one is especially nice. Well done.

Excellent work Wayne. All the details are fabulous. It would be also very nice without this black framing. Well done.

Both wonderful shots. The change of angle threw me for a bit though. The detail is fantastic and they are certainly wonderful specimens of a beautiful flower.
