On the Run
by Jerry Imprevento
Taken May 2010 near Jackson Hole,WY ( The road leading to the Gros Ventre river). It's not a very good image..Didn't set the camera properly. Was way too busy watching him come down the hill. He was grazing calmly, raised his head, ears went up...then it was game on. He broke into a full gallop down the side of the hill to the river below. We could not figure what/why he bolted the way he did. We could not see any predators or other moose. Maybe just morning work-out?

4 commentsWell, I WOULD agree that it's not the absolutely best moose image I've ever seen, it certainly does have enough "essence of moose" to be interesting! I like the out-stretched front right leg...
Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

PS: Please don't hesitate to jump in and comment on the images of others - I know the recommended ratio of 5 comments for every image post can be tough to maintain, but getting a little closer to this comment:image ratio would be appreciated. I know many newer members are a little hesitant to leave comments, but ultimately the success of all the galleries are determined largely by the comments members leave on the images that are posted. If you're unsure or uneasy about commenting/"critiquing" there are several good resources on this website discussing it. Start right here:
http://www.naturephotographers.net/naturephotos/wildlifephotography.html
and you'll find links to the the image posting guidelines and two articles on critiquing ("The Art of Image Critique" and "More Thoughts on Photo Critique.").
Totally appreciate the effort on the commenting. One very positive thing about the commenting is that it REALLY makes you think about the image, which can ultimately help your own photography.
Cheers and thanks again...
